  2. When I mentioned 'Nugent Dirt' to J. she thought she remembered a shoe polish with a similar name.

  3. Tim: Nope, nothing just white snow.

Christopher: I'm getting the impression oa a statue and the letter "A". I'll do the drawing when the image clears...

  4. This is uncanny. And your comment isn't what it said just now. Is there someone stuck underneath your clock?

  5. There is, actually, someone stuck under the grandfather clock. Been about two minutes. I can't draw clocks. I'll stick with Albert.

  6. I am Lost! And I invented this game.

  7. Tim: It seems Christopher is a fan of the Goon show. I just googled Nugent Dirt and found a script called "The Albert Memorial" which featured Nugent Dirt and there was a scene about a grandfather clock falling over.
But I await your mastery of crosswordskills for when your brain unblanks.

  9. Streets ahead of me, Rosie. I discovered 'Nugent Dirt' last night in a different context (something about baldness) nothing to do with the Goons, choked on a mouthful of tea on the extreme zaniness of the name, mentioned it when I'd recovered and changed my shirt to J. who said she thought etc. etc. Then you followed up with hints of statues and the letter A, and I thought aha she knows something I don't, so I googled it too and discovered the same script and its radio realisation from about 1958. So I've done no work this afternoon. Thank you, thank you.

  11. I don't want to spoil anyone's evening with brainfilling or crosswordskillanagramming; so I'll just have to do it with something else -

  12. And disappointingly it didn't contain my best Goon quote. They've gone into space to find out whether the Moon is round. Eccles is the observer.

Seagoon: Well, did it look round?
Eccles: Yes, but I don't think it saw me!
